About the Center
While Mon General is primarily a 189 bed community hospital, the scope of services and specialists available is comparable to most medical centers much larger than ourselves. Services available in The HeartCare Center of Mon General Hospital range from Electrophysiology and Vascular procedures to Coronary Angioplasty and Open Heart Surgery.
Open Heart Surgery has been available at Mon General since 1988. In recent years, cardiac surgeons have been performing close to 400 open-heart surgeries per year at Mon General.
During the past year, the Mon General Cardiology Department saw over 5,000 patients from West Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. In excess of 3,000 procedures were performed in our Cardiac Catheterization Lab. In order to meet the medical needs of our regional service area, Mon General recently added a second Cath Lab which can accommodate over 3,000 additional procedures each year.
