Programs and Services

Come to the Center for Complementary Medicine and relax while receiving hands-on treatment from a licensed and professional massage therapist. The benefits of massage therapy include stress reduction, decreased anxiety, alleviated fatigue, increased circulation, improved sleep, decreased muscular aches and pains, headache relief and a strengthened immune system.

Types of massage available at the center include relaxation using Swedish techniques and aromatherapy, Deep Tissue which focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue, Myofascial release, Reiki and Neuromuscular using trigger points on hyper-irritated areas of muscles. Services to the community and staff are available at the hospital. Inpatient massage is also available.

  • $68 per 60 minute session
  • $34 per 30 minute session
  • $40 per 60 minute Reiki session
  • $1 per minute for seated massage

Complementary Medicine offers massages during the following hours:

  • Mondays, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Fridays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Appointments scheduled by calling (304) 598-1642, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Fridays, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Private pay patients receive a 20 percent discount. Most insurances are accepted with a physician order. Massage gift certificates are available for purchase in the Mon General Hospital Gift Shop.

Therapeutic Music

Music is one of the most ancient methods of healing. Therapeutic music may help patients decrease pain and stress during labor and surgery, to improve mental function and movement. The Center for Complementary Medicine of Mon General Hospital offers a lending library of personal CD players and therapeutic music for use at the hospital.

Topical Supplements

An approved selection of topical supplements are available in Mon General Hospital's Gift Shop.

Dietary and Nutrition

The Center for Complementary Medicine offers health food choices and personal dietary consultations.

Education

Education programs are available for the community and Mon General Hospital staff. Topics to be announced.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of essential oils to relax, balance and rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. This form of treatment can be used in combination with massage therapy.

Other Services

The Center for Complementary Medicine offers yoga classes and will be expanding its services in the future to include classes in meditation and stress reduction, as well as acupuncture. Many other services are also being considered.
