The Birth Center

Mon General Hospital's state-of-the-art Birth Center opened in August 1999.

Located on the 5th Floor of the hospital, The Birth Center has eight birthing suites, three ante-partum rooms for testing and medical management prior to delivery, two breast-pump rooms, a family waiting room and the perinatal education office.

The birthing suites were developed with input from staff, physicians and, most importantly, past and present patients. Each suite has a home-like atmosphere, while providing the safety and concern that comes with a skilled team of physicians, nurses and support staff.

Each birthing suite is decorated in a contemporary style, with a bedroom-like atmosphere and hardwood floors. Wood cabinets and wall paintings, which hide medical supplies and equipment, add to the home-like décor. Half of the rooms are equipped with whirlpool tubs. Each suite also has a place for the father or another family member to stay the night if desired.

Under the Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum concept at The Birth Center, a woman having a routine labor and delivery remains in the same room throughout her entire stay with her newborn. However, there is a nursery for babies which require maximum care and to provide rest time for the mother.
