Orientation
Monongalia Health System offers an excellent orientation for new graduates and individualized orientation for experienced staff. During this comprehensive competency based orientation period, the nurse is teamed with an experienced preceptor and an educator. Specific skills essential to the job are taught, monitored, and measured during this period. The period of time required to complete a competency-based orientation varies according to the position.
Flexible Scheduling
Nursing departments offer both 8 and 12-hour shifts. In an effort to promote work/life balance, self-scheduling is available on most units. Schedules are published ahead of time on a monthly rotation to assist you in scheduling your other commitments.

Compensation
We recognized the value of your RN experience and we provide an experience rating in computing your rate of pay when you join our nursing team at Mon General Hospital. You will receive a longevity increase on your anniversary date. We also conduct annual market wage reviews of all Mon Health System positions to assure your pay is competitive in the market.
Pay for Performance
Your performance evaluation provides an annual opportunity to earn a performance award differential of an additional 3% or 5% of your base rate for meeting or exceeding expectations respectively.

You are looking for a great total compensation package and our benefits provide that ranging from excellent medical benefits to high quality on campus child care to a retirement plan with an automatic employer match. We offer a $21.42/per pay benefit credit to all benefit eligible employees to help you defer some of the costs of our already low premiums.
Reduced Benefit Option
You may elect to participate in the Reduced Benefit Option program as a budgeted RN to receive a higher hourly rate. You are still able to receive specific benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Tuition Reimbursement, RN Certification Bonus, 403(B) Retirement Savings Program, Wellness Program, Bereavement Pay, Flexible Spending Account, Unemployment, Workers Compensation, and Voluntary Long Term Care.
RN Certification Bonus
In order to reward Monongalia Health System Registered Nurses for receiving and maintaining certifications sanctioned by the American Nursing Association or a specialty organization recognized by the ANA, MHS Nurses are eligible for a Certification Bonus. This bonus is paid annually if the incumbent has successfully completed the certification requirements.
Employee Referral Bonus
By making an employee referral for an eligible position, you could be eligible for up to a $1,000 referral bonus.
Educational Development
Continuing Education
Monongalia Health System employed nurses also receive free Continuing Education (CEs). The Education Services Department at MHS is an approved provider of continuing education in Nursing by the West Virginia Nurses Association. The WV Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation, the WV Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses, and the WV Board of Examiners for Practical Nurses. Clinical Education courses are offered to update knowledge and skills, to enhance competency, and to maintain licensure and certification.
Tuition Assistance
We want to assist you in reaching your educational goals and we will provide you up to $3,500 each year for full time employees. Part time employees’ tuition assistance is pro-rated based on budgeted hours. No commitment of employment is required.
RN Loan Repayment
Your financial commitment to becoming an RN was considerable and Mon General Hospital wants to assist you in repaying those loans so you can focus on practicing in your profession. We currently offer up to $300 per month paid to your loan company for a maximum of 24 months, paid directly to your loan company. Click to learn more.
RN Scholarship Program
For nursing students, currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, Mon General Hospital wants to assist financially. We will offer scholarships of up to $10,000. This scholarship requires a two year commitment of employment after graduation. Click to learn more.
Foundation Scholarships
Scholarships of $1,000 are offered to students studying to become healthcare professionals. Qualified students who accept offers of employment from Mon General Hospital are eligible to double the amount of scholarships they qualify for, up to $2,000.
