Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the LPN and/or Director of Residential Care, the Nursing Assistant provides a variety of direct resident care activities in order to provide optimal resident comfort, safety, companionship, cleanliness and dignity.

Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement : Must posses reading, writing, and mathematical skills and ability to understand written instruction and receive and transmit information; skills/ability normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).

b. Minimum Experience Requirement : Demonstrated proficiency with ADLs and vital sign experience preferred. Knowledge of long-term care practives and procedures and/or prior nursing assistance experience preferred. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Must be able to understand VHP and department policies and procedures and operate departmental equipment, normally obtained through on-the job training. Effective interpersonal communication skills are necessary in order to maintain cooperative work replationships. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.

c. Minimum License Requirement : BLS/AED and First aid certification within 30 days of hire. Current Food Handler and First Aid certification required within 90 days of hire.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
